Namsai all set to host Purvottara Buddha Mahotsava
ITANAGAR, Jan 07: Preparations are almost complete to host the second Purvottara Bauddha Mahotsava (festival) 2015 at Namsai from the January 10 to 12.
Namsai often called as "land of pagodas" and abode of Theravada Buddhism will be hosting the second edition of the festival after Dibrugarh, Assam.

New Arunachal Bhawan RC urges officers to work as a team
ITANAGAR, Jan 07: New Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Bhawan, New Delhi, V Abrraham today held a meeting with all the officers and OSDs of Arunachal Bhawan and encouraged them to work hard for the state as a team.
Addressing the officers, he said he would be available to extend any kind of help at any time for any department.
Abrraham, who has 21 years of experience in Arunachal Pradesh and 9 years across the country, said he is ready to use his experience to serve the state. He also urged the officers to use their posting in New Delhi to its maximum potential.
All the officers highly appreciated the meeting convened by the Resident Commissioner as this was one of the first such meetings which gave them a platform to raise issues concerning their respective departments.
Abrraham took charge as Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Bhawan on December 31, 2014 replacing Sanjay Kumar Saxena, who joined the Delhi Government.
Association demands cancellation of PEBS
ITANAGAR, Jan 7: Irked with newly introduced prepaid electric billing system (PEBS) by the power department, All Arunachal Pradesh Consumers Association (AAPCA) today demanded the authority to cancel PEBS immediately. In a letter addressed to the Chief Engineer Power the association claimed that poor consumers are unable to pay the high prepaid bill. It further sought intervention of the authority at the earliest.
ATA condemns attempt on life of school teacher
ITANAGAR, Jan 07: The Central Executive Committee of the Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) vehemently condemned the attempt on life of a lady teacher of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Pampoli, East Kameng District by an unidentified person at her official quarter on January 4 after a failed molestation bid.
Expressing serious concern over rising incidents of crime against women in the state, the ATA fervently appealed to the authority concerned to ensure safety and security of the teachers and women folk of the state as well. "We appeal to the district administration and Superintendent of Police, East Kameng to immediately arrest the culprit involved in the incident and punish him under appropriate sections of the law failing which we will be compelled to launch democratic movement throughout the state," ATA stated in a release.
ATA also urged authority to provide compensation to the victim.
Training on Biometric Enrolment for Charge Officers held
ITANAGAR, Jan 07: The charge officers of Anjaw district have undergone one day training on Biometric Enrolment (BME) process under National Population Register conducted by census officials from Directorate of Census Operation, Government of India at Deputy Commissioner's office today.
Anjaw Deputy Commissioner Duly Kamduk asked all administrative officers, who are also the Charge Officers, to ensure cent percent enrolment under National Population Register which is scheduled to start from January 12 onwards.
To oversee the process, several senior central census officials, including SK Chakraborty, Addl. Register General (CR), New Delhi are expected to arrive soon, he informed.
He appealed to all to get themselves registered for the NPR compulsorily.
Training of enumerators is also being conducted from today onwards at Hawai and will continue for few days at other Circles like Hayuliang, Goiliang, Manchal, Metengliang, Chaglagam , Walong and Kibithoo.

APPSC stalemate: Govt will take further action on the basis of SIT report

Reiterating the action taken on the basis of the magisterial enquiry committee headed
by senior APCS officer Hento Karga, the state Govt in a release today disclosed that
after going through the enquiry report the state Cabinet decided to send a copy
of the enquiry committee report to APPSC and accordingly the Commission took cognizance
of the findings of enquiry committee and suspended four officers including Joint
Secretary, who is APPSC Ex-

It is also worth mentioning that the post September, 2014, 2 new members of APPSC have been appointed and the Commission now has the strength of 4 members including Chairman APPSC.

"Based on the recommendation of magisterial enquiry report, the Commission may take appropriate decision at its level for conducting examination. The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has provided the necessary man power for conducting the examinations," said the release issued by Commissioner, Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Training.
The release further said that the cabinet has also decided to initiate criminal proceedings against the person involved in the matter through Special Investigation Team (SIT). The state Govt has directed DGP to constitute a SIT to further investigate the matter and accordingly the SIT was constituted and it registered a regular FIR in the matter and investigation has already commenced.
"The Cabinet has also assessed whether or not a Presidential reference is required under Article 317 of the Constitution of India as warranted against any of the members of APPSC on the basis of the report of the Enquiry Magistrate. However, it is found that despite some adverse observations, no direct or indirect evidence of corruption or personal negligence on the part of any of the member of APPSC is found by the Magisterial Enquiry report and therefore, at this stage no convincing evidence is forthcoming to recommend for a decision for removal of any member of APPSC under Article 317 of the Constitution of India.
On the basis of the finding of the SIT the Government will take further appropriate decision on the matter as may be required, the release added.
APCC seeks Govt intervention

concerns over the controversy surrounding the alleged leakage of question papers

ANSU supports movement of APPSCE aspirants
ITANAGAR, Jan 07: The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) has extended support to the democratic movement of the aggrieved aspirants of APPSCE for justice and sanctity of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
The union, however, feels that the issue must not be prolonged anymore and a solution
to the controversy be arrived immediately. For the interest of hundreds of civil
service aspirants as well as to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the Commission,
the union appealed to the sitting Chairman and Members of the Commission to own moral
responsibility for the crisis and voluntarily resign from their respective posts,
so that investigations into the issue by the SIT is conducted in a fair and impartial
manner. The Union is of the view that prolonging the issue is not going to benefit
anyone including the Commission, the aspirants, the Government as well as the civil
society. There may also be chances that people may politicize the issue and hijack

SEPPA, Jan 07: East Kameng Social Welfare Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) has urged
the state government to name the newly constructed bridge over Kameng after Nicham

A memorandum in this regard was submitted to Parliamentary Secretary Tapuk Taku by EKSWCO chairman Khya Safar Pao during the 53rd birth anniversary celebration of Nicham Sonam at Abotani Manch here yesterday.
Nicham was the first circle officer from East Kameng. He was promoted to EAC and later posted as Project Director at Ziro where he breathed his last at the age of 37 years. During his short span of life, he was deeply involved in promotion of social and cultural activities. He was also served as general secretary of Nhisi Elite Society and composed a famous song 'Pisu Lima Li, Nyi Sima Sii''.
Parliamentary Secretary Tapuk while recalling his association with Lt. Nicham, lauded EKSWCO for organizing the programme in recognition of his contribution to the society which will inspire other to do noble works for the society.
"It is important for everyone to be a good human being to succeed in any field and to lead the society in the right direction is a big thing," he added.
He assured EKSWCO to take up the proposal with the state government for naming of the newly constructed bridge over Kameng River near Hari Bridge after Nicham Sonam.
ADC Pooja Jain lauded the EKSWCO for organizing such programme to create public awareness and said social change is a continuous process which has scope for improvement.
Expressing concern over rising law and order problems in Seppa Township, the ADC appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to administration and police by giving inputs leading to arrest of offenders.

ROING, Jan 07: The Enjalu Menda Women's Empowerment Forum (EMWEF) submitted a written
appeal to the Central Reh Celebration Committee to ban selling of alcohol in stalls
during the three-
"The EMWEF had successfully put a ban on selling alcohol in stalls in the Rheko campus last year, which resulted in a much peaceful celebration environment, especially for women and children", informed GS EMWEF Rakhi Linggi.
"We received positive feedback from doctors who said that last year was the only time there were no casualties in the hospital during the festival", added member EMWEF Rima Meto.
"Reh is the major festival of the Idu Mishmis and we want to send out a strong message against alcohol abuse through this platform", said member EMWEF Desai Linggi.
The EMWEF also added that they are not against the limited serving of local beverage by the committee, but the stalls that sell alcohol in abundance sends out a wrong message of the festival, to both the younger generation of the tribe and also to outsiders.
The Central Reh Celebration Committee, headed by the IMCLS, while praising this appeal by the forum, is yet to give a confirmation on the matter.

Still awaiting justice
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, we the family members of Late Bengia Yame
who died on 8th January’ 2014 at Arunachal State Hospital (ASH) Naharlagun following
a knee cap surgery would like to lay down few points for consideration. Late Yame
was operated after she accidentally fell down from a chair while trying to fix the
light bulb at home. And she was operated on 6th January" 2014 and was undergoing
treatment from the doctors of ASH. She later died within 5 minutes of after being
given injection by the Sister Incharge. Thereafter we the family member lodged an
FIR against aforesaid staffs and the case was registered. Now one year has passed
but still we have not got justice. So, we would like to ask authority concern the
following point as mentioned below:-

2. Why Post-
3. What is the outcome of enquiry committee set up by the Government?
We have enough evidences that our mother was killed in the hospital. She was a healthy person and was not suffering from any medical problem which was known from medical examination prior to the operation of knee cap. We, the family members are still waiting for the justice.

Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to share what I feel the concerned
departments should take note of. Just recently on my way back from village I happened
to come across a very well made bamboo fence by the roadside and the first thought
that hit me was ‘Wow! Now that’s Arunachal’ almost instinctively. And that had me
thinking, what if that same thing was done not just in cultural exhibitions but also
in places the public pass by on a daily basis-
1) Promoting and thereby preserving our culture.
2) Employment opportunities for both the able youths and the aging populace even from the very remote corners of our state
3) Zero advertising cost. A single Facebook post can reach thousands and there’s
Instagram, twitter, WatsApp, you tube etc. It will be a huge asset for the tourism
sector. And by the time I was pondering over these endless possibilities I am suddenly
an Arunachal fanboy all over again and that in itself is something worth celebrating.
Not that I am some rich foreign investor but because I constitute a part of a whole
generation of youths who very unfortunately, in more ways than one have grown tired
of ‘almost anything local’. At this rate in a decade or so, the traditional wears
that we so proudly present the chief guest in every other major occasions today will
later end up in some museum with the tag-
I apologize if I am (as we’d say) ‘line cross kr dia’ but I earnestly would like
to call upon one and all esp. our ‘parent’s generation’ to act now. I am probably
not quite yet fit to be saying this but I sincerely believe it’s our shared responsibilities
to come up with innovative ways to acquaint the coming generation with our rich tradition
